Why connect Stripe?
GetDues already supports Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal for free — but those require members to take action themselves. Connecting Stripe unlocks card and ACH bank transfer payments directly in the portal:
- Members can pay with any credit or debit card, or link their bank account for ACH transfer
- Payments are recorded automatically — no manual tracking needed
- Funds go directly to your bank account via Stripe — GetDues never holds your money
- Stripe’s standard fees apply: 2.9% + 30¢ for cards, 0.8% (capped at $5) for ACH — no GetDues markup
Step-by-step setup
Open team settings
From your team page, click the Settings tab (or the gear icon). Look for the Payment Methods or Stripe Connect section.
Click “Connect with Stripe”
You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s secure onboarding flow. Stripe will guide you through providing your business or personal details, tax information, and bank account for deposits.
Complete Stripe’s identity verification
Stripe requires some verification to enable payouts. This typically includes your legal name, date of birth, last 4 digits of SSN (in the US), and bank account details. This is a Stripe requirement — not GetDues.
Return to GetDues
After completing Stripe onboarding, you’ll be redirected back to GetDues. Your team settings will now show Stripe: Connected ✓.
Members can now pay by card
The next reminder you send will include a Pay Now button in the member portal. Funds are deposited to your linked bank account, typically within 2 business days.
Common issues & troubleshooting
I completed Stripe setup but it still shows as disconnected
Stripe onboarding can take a few minutes to fully process. Refresh your team settings page. If it still shows disconnected after 5 minutes, try clicking “Connect with Stripe” again — you can resume where you left off.
Stripe is asking for additional verification
Stripe may request additional documents for higher-volume accounts. Log in to your Stripe dashboard to see what’s required. GetDues cannot speed up Stripe’s review process.
I don’t see the “Pay Now” button in the player portal
The Pay Now button only appears after Stripe is fully connected. If you recently connected, try sending a new reminder — old member portal links may not reflect the updated payment options.
I want to disconnect Stripe
You can disconnect Stripe from team settings at any time. Existing payment records will remain. Players with active portal links will no longer see the online payment option.
Verifying your connection is active
To confirm Stripe is active and working:
- Go to Team Settings → Payment Methods. You should see Stripe: Connected ✓ with a green badge.
- Send yourself a test reminder (add your own phone/email as a member). The portal link should show a Pay Now button.
- Log in to your Stripe dashboard to confirm your account is active and payouts are enabled.
Understanding Payment Status
When members pay through Stripe, you’ll see different payment statuses depending on the payment method they use:
- Card payments (credit/debit): Appear as “completed” immediately after the member submits payment
- ACH/bank transfers: Start as “pending” until the bank clears the transfer (typically 4-5 business days)
Payment Status Definitions
- Pending: Awaiting bank clearance. The member has initiated the payment, but funds have not yet been confirmed by their bank.
- Completed: Funds received. The payment has been successfully processed and the funds are on their way to your bank account.
- Failed: Bank rejected the payment. This can happen due to insufficient funds, invalid account details, or other bank-side issues.
When a payment fails:You’ll receive a notification, and the member’s balance will remain unpaid. The member may need to try again with a different payment method or resolve the issue with their bank.
